Annotik ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Annotik web application at app.annotik.com and the Annotik Chrome Extension. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

We collect the following information when you use Annotik:

• Account information: Your name and email address when you register.
• Bug reports: Screenshots, screen recordings, and descriptions you submit as tickets.
• Metadata: Browser name, OS, screen resolution, page URL, and viewport size automatically attached to bug reports.
• Authentication tokens: Stored locally in your browser to keep you logged in.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Annotik bug reporting service.
• To send team invitation emails and ticket notifications.
• To display bug reports and attachments to your team members.
• To authenticate you securely across sessions.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored on secure servers. Files (screenshots and recordings) are stored on Cloudflare R2 object storage. Your account and ticket data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on a private server.

5. Chrome Extension

The Annotik Chrome Extension:

• Captures screenshots and screen recordings only when you explicitly trigger them.
• Stores your authentication token in chrome.storage.local — it never leaves your device except to authenticate with our API.
• Injects a recording overlay only when you start a recording session.
• Does not track your browsing history or run in the background without your action.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except:

• With team members you explicitly invite to your workspace.
• With service providers (Cloudflare R2 for file storage, Hostinger for email delivery) strictly to operate the service.
• When required by law.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@annotik.com.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, JWT authentication, and bcrypt password hashing to protect your data.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction or deletion of your data.
